There is a growing demand for business-savvy leaders that combine technical expertise with an ability to engage teams and think strategically. In the world of technically driven enterprises, adding management qualifications to a technical background gives professionals the competitive edge needed to move into senior management positions.

The Management Development Certificate for Professional Engineers and Geoscientists from Online and Continuing Education, University of Alberta is a program developed in partnership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Designed to meet the specific needs of these professionals, this program enables participants to be positioned as leaders within their organizations and to distinguish themselves as individuals with strong and informed decision-making skills.

Courses in the program cover areas such as operational and strategic management, organizational behaviour, managerial economics, interpersonal communications, and project planning, among others. Eligibility is limited to professional members or members-in-training of APEGA.

This program is for engineers or geoscientists who want to expand their career options through formal management education. The certificate will benefit both emerging leaders and those already in management positions. In order to enrol in the program, learners must be professional members or members-in-training of APEGA.

A big plus is the interaction you get throughout the courses. You hear different stories, listen to different opinions… It really helps you to gain some perspective.
