The XR Development with Unity Microcredential is offered in partnership with Circuit Stream, an industry leader in Extended Reality (XR) and Game Development education.
Learn how to create your own virtual and augmented reality projects, from design to production, in Unity. This beginner-friendly online program will give you the fundamental technical skills and knowledge to develop for extended reality (XR), including augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) using Unity. In this 10-week online program, you will learn to create AR and VR applications using Unity and C# scripting and get experience using other industry-standard tools for developing XR applications.

Note: This program is offered as a collaboration between the University of Alberta’s department of Online and Continuing Education and Circuit Stream.
These courses are non-credit and do not count toward a University of Alberta diploma, certificate, or citation program. They will not impact your GPA and you will not see them on your transcript. You will receive a digital completion badge from Circuit Stream to share with your networks once you have finished.
Registration is processed directly through the Circuit Stream website.
This 10-week course is designed for developers, product designers, product managers, generalists or anyone wanting to expand their learning horizons and explore the rapidly growing field of XR technologies and development. There are no prerequisites or experience required.
Admissions
To enrol in the in the program please fill out an enrolment form.
This live online program runs over ten weeks. Your time commitment will include:
- 3 hours online class sessions per week
- 4-6 hours self-study
- Optional study sessions with student ambassadors
- Optional weekly office hours
Assessments
- Final Quiz (100%)
Upon successful completion of this course and a minimum grade of 70% on the final quiz, you will earn a co-branded XR Developer digital badge and Record of Achievement from the University of Alberta and Circuit Stream.
The cost of the program is between $3950 and $4950 depending on package type.
