Through a project-based cur­ricu­lum, you will com­plete the micro­cre­den­tial with a port­fo­lio of five projects demon­strat­ing the foun­da­tion­al skills need­ed to build immer­sive tech­nolo­gies in XR.

Learn the skills you need to launch a career in aug­ment­ed real­i­ty and vir­tu­al real­i­ty development. 

The XR Devel­op­ment with Uni­ty Micro­cre­den­tial is offered in part­ner­ship with Cir­cuit Stream, an indus­try leader in Extend­ed Real­i­ty (XR) and Game Devel­op­ment education.

Learn how to cre­ate your own vir­tu­al and aug­ment­ed real­i­ty projects, from design to pro­duc­tion, in Uni­ty. This begin­ner-friend­ly online pro­gram will give you the fun­da­men­tal tech­ni­cal skills and knowl­edge to devel­op for extend­ed real­i­ty (XR), includ­ing aug­ment­ed real­i­ty (AR) and vir­tu­al real­i­ty (VR) using Uni­ty. In this 10-week online pro­gram, you will learn to cre­ate AR and VR appli­ca­tions using Uni­ty and C# script­ing and get expe­ri­ence using oth­er indus­try-stan­dard tools for devel­op­ing XR applications.

Note: This pro­gram is offered as a col­lab­o­ra­tion between the Uni­ver­si­ty of Alberta’s depart­ment of Online and Con­tin­u­ing Edu­ca­tion and Cir­cuit Stream. 

These cours­es are non-cred­it and do not count toward a Uni­ver­si­ty of Alber­ta diplo­ma, cer­tifi­cate, or cita­tion pro­gram. They will not impact your GPA and you will not see them on your tran­script. You will receive a dig­i­tal com­ple­tion badge from Cir­cuit Stream to share with your net­works once you have finished. 

Reg­is­tra­tion is processed direct­ly through the Cir­cuit Stream web­site.

This 10-week course is designed for devel­op­ers, prod­uct design­ers, prod­uct man­agers, gen­er­al­ists or any­one want­i­ng to expand their learn­ing hori­zons and explore the rapid­ly grow­ing field of XR tech­nolo­gies and devel­op­ment. There are no pre­req­ui­sites or expe­ri­ence required.

This live online program runs over ten weeks. Your time commitment will include:

  • 3 hours online class sessions per week
  • 4-6 hours self-study
  • Optional study sessions with student ambassadors
  • Optional weekly office hours
Assessments
  • Final Quiz (100%) 

Upon successful completion of this course and a minimum grade of 70% on the final quiz, you will earn a co-branded XR Developer digital badge and Record of Achievement from the University of Alberta and Circuit Stream.
