SkillUp@UA
On-demand courses for everyone
Find a skill you want to master — and start learning right away!
Start by exploring connected careers: — get insights into Alberta salaries, job forecasts, and more
Your professional development journey just got a lot easier with our most flexible learning format yet. On-demand learning means you no longer need to wait for a course to start — just choose your topic of interest, register for the course, and you’re good to go.
Courses are desktop and mobile-friendly, self-paced, badge-awarding, discuss real-world case studies, and include gamification features. What’s best: if you have a question on the course content, an expert is always at hand and ready to answer your inquiry within a day or two.
SkillUp@UA is offered as a collaboration between the University of Alberta’s Online and Continuing Education and MindEdge, a learning house founded by Harvard and MIT educators in 1998, which has served more than three million learners since its inception.
Intro offer: take "Speak With Confidence" for free after you register for the first SkillUp@UA course of your choice.
Courses blend a variety of instructional components to make learning engaging and interactive.
Quizzes, games and flashcards help to activate prior knowledge and reinforce learning.
"Ask the Expert" feature allows you to submit questions to an expert in the field you are studying.
Comprehensive, weighted assessment lets you measure your learning.
Note: these courses are non-credit and do not count toward University of Alberta diploma, certificate, or citation programs. They will not impact your GPA and you will not see them on your transcript. You will receive a digital completion badge to share with your networks once you have finished.
Registration is processed directly through the MindEdge website; prices are displayed in CAD but will be charged in USD. Exchange rates may vary slightly based on your financial provider.
- Tuition is paid on a course-by-course basis as you register for your classes.
- Some courses require a textbook at an additional cost.
- Eligible for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant.
