The series will pro­vide you with exper­tise in plan­ning com­mu­ni­ties in the areas of urban, rur­al, region­al, and win­ter environments.

Led by indus­try experts, the cours­es encour­age learn­ers to col­lab­o­rate with oth­er plan­ning pro­fes­sion­als who bring their pri­or expe­ri­ence for dynam­ic dis­cus­sions and prac­ti­cal hands-on activities.

This series is com­prised of two online cours­es and two in-class/web-enhanced cours­es held in down­town Edmon­ton, each of them designed to stand alone in pro­vid­ing spe­cif­ic skills. Cours­es can also be tak­en togeth­er to pro­vide you with a com­pre­hen­sive skill set. 

  • This series is for you if you are a learn­er work­ing with­in the plan­ning indus­try.
    Learn­ers may come from a wide range of sec­tors, rang­ing from devel­op­ment offi­cers, plan­ning tech­ni­cians, land use, envi­ron­men­tal, and com­mu­ni­ty plan­ners, to resources man­agers, gov­ern­ment offi­cials, con­sul­tants, devel­op­ers, lawyers, zon­ing admin­is­tra­tors, admin­is­tra­tors in small­er munic­i­pal­i­ties, and oth­ers involved in plan­ning processes. 
  • If you are a reg­is­tered pro­fes­sion­al plan­ner with the Alber­ta Pro­fes­sion­al Plan­ners Insti­tute (APPI), you may use these cours­es as part of the required Con­tin­u­ous Pro­fes­sion­al Learn­ing (CPL) units for your mem­ber­ship maintenance.
  • All cours­es count for elec­tive cred­it toward the Applied Land Use Plan­ning cer­tifi­cate program.
