History of Residential Furnishings
Explore the history of furniture and interior decoration from Greek and Roman classics through the 18th century to the present. Examine the relationship of art, architecture and the decorative arts in interiors within the context of larger historical events. In this course we will cover major furniture styles and interior design from the classical to the present in Europe and North America; historical characteristics that are repeated in contemporary interior decoration; the relationship of art, architecture and the decorative arts to historical furniture and interior decorating styles; and social, political and economic forces that influenced the periods of interior design styles.
This course has no prerequisites
Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.
