Disability Management Overview

This overview will pro­vide par­tic­i­pants with an under­stand­ing of the essen­tials that will set you apart as a leader in Dis­abil­i­ty Man­age­ment. A study of leg­isla­tive require­ments and cur­rent best prac­tices will help you attract and retain diverse employ­ees and pro­vide sup­port for your orga­ni­za­tion­al goals and objec­tives. This sem­i­nar will offer you the prac­ti­cal tools and knowl­edge on how to man­age the human and finan­cial impacts of both work­place and non-work­place injuries and ill­ness that can be applied immediately.

  • In-class, face-to-face delivery with instructional support through eClass, the University of Alberta’s eLearning management tool.
  • Aimed at entry-level and practicing health and safety coordinators, professionals, officers, technicians, supervisors, trainers, management, and administrators.
What you will learn

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify key legislation related to health and safety and disability management.
  • Understand the human and financial impact of occupational injury.
  • Create a business case to support investment in a disability management program.
  • Recognize the requirements of when to report to OHS and to WCB.
  • Understand how to proactively identify injuries and begin early disability management.
  • Implement best practice disability management services to minimize the impact of a workplace injury.
This course has no prerequisites

Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.
