Explore cru­cial aspects of data pro­tec­tion and secu­ri­ty as you learn about the attrib­ut­es of secure data and the leg­isla­tive stan­dards for secur­ing per­son­al data. Assess data secu­ri­ty in var­i­ous con­texts and iden­ti­fy some of the chal­lenges to secur­ing data, par­tic­u­lar­ly in elec­tron­ic sys­tems with inter­net access. Find out how to respond to data breach­es and inves­ti­gate the future of data secu­ri­ty, with a look at encryp­tion and oth­er tech­ni­cal solu­tions’.

Chris StinnerID: chris-stinner

Chris Stinner is a manager, Special Projects and Investigations, with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, where he conducts investigations initiated by the commissioner in relation to systemic issues in the field of information access and protection of privacy. Prior to this role, he reviewed privacy impact assessments and privacy breach reports and conducted investigations related to access and privacy compliance issues. Chris has spent a number of years working as a privacy advisor in the health sector, helping physician offices and hospitals comply with information and privacy legislation in Alberta. A bilingual instructor, Chris has contributed to the translation of IAPP course materials into French.
