Social Media and Local Government in the COVID Age

Learn about strate­gic approach­es to social media use and under­stand its role and impor­tance dur­ing this cur­rent health cri­sis and in every­day work­ings of local author­i­ty. Be intro­duced to social media best prac­tices for how to engage with com­mu­ni­ties, min­i­mize risk, help cit­i­zens to feel more con­nect­ed to munic­i­pal lead­ers, com­bat social iso­la­tion, and encour­age cit­i­zens to invest in their com­mu­ni­ties. Oth­er top­ics include the neg­a­tive effects of social media mis­use or overuse, munic­i­pal deci­sions appro­pri­ate to share, and respon­si­bil­i­ty for social media accounts at the munic­i­pal­i­ty level.
