    EXGEN 3397 is offered this fall:

Aimed at those with very lit­tle or no back­ground in Ger­man. It takes a task-based approach to learn­ing using prac­ti­cal sit­u­a­tions from every­day life. Get intro­duced to com­mon expres­sions and acquire vocab­u­lary in top­ics such as: greet­ings, intro­duc­tions, order­ing food, time of day, shop­ping, com­pli­ments and more. Dis­cuss the cul­ture of Ger­man-speak­ing coun­tries and learn about basic pro­nun­ci­a­tion rules, the use of verbs, the use of present tense and past tense, sen­tence struc­ture, and the use of cas­es. Ger­man I cov­ers lev­el A1.1 of the Euro­pean CEFR-scale.

Richard Feddersen has been a German instructor for nearly a decade. After graduating from the University of Cologne in Germany, he moved to Jordan to teach at the German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Goethe-Institut. He has been involved in developing curricula and material for German for Academic Purposes and has been a coordinator for phonetic training at the GJU. In 2015, he moved to Canada, where he is pursuing his PhD in Applied Linguistics, which is focused on how learners of German construct German identity.
