Building Your Freelance Career
Learn how to develop a career in independent journalism, as well as how to manage your business. Find out what types of journalism work are available to freelancers and explore topics such as finding, developing, and organizing ideas; selling stories and yourself; and market research techniques. Discuss digital tools that can reduce time, errors, and the chaos of self-employment, as well as life skills that foster a healthy work-life balance. We’ll wade into the business nitty-gritty — who pays, how much, and what’s in a contract — as well as best practices.
