Tea Ceremony: A Gateway to Japanese Culture
Enjoy a first-hand experience of the spirit of hospitality embodied by the Japanese tea ceremony, as you practice serving and receiving tea using traditional utensils. Learn about environment associated with the ceremony: the tea room, the garden, tea utensils, and the toko no ma. Explore the history of this tradition started by Zen monks in the 13th century and understand why the tea ceremony developed the way it did.
This course has no prerequisites
Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.
