Fundamentals of Risk Management
Regardless of your position, everyone plays a role in managing risk within an organization. This course will help provide you with a theoretical understanding of what risk management is and how to use risk management for decision making in order to achieve objectives, as well as create or preserve value for your organization. Topics will include: what is risk, risk management, management and communication, and the value of learning from failure.

What you will learn
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Outline the history of risk.
- Identify and describe the various risk segments (hazard, operational, strategic, and project).
- Identify various risk management standards or frameworks.
- Recognize the differences and features of each standard or framework.
- Comprehend and explain the ISO 31000 definition of risk.
- Identify and recognize how people connect with and process uncertainty, and how they make decisions.
- Identify stakeholders and select appropriate ways to communicate with them.

Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.
