Introduction to Screenwriting

Make your idea reality. This class will provide you with a strong basic introduction to industry standards in the screenwriting trade. Through work on a short film script, you will be introduced to formatting, story structure, character development and arc, and create loglines, one-pagers, treatments, beat sheets and outlines as you begin to develop your own screenwriting process. Pitching, story editing and on-set work will also be discussed. Our last class will be held at FAVA, Edmonton’s film and video arts co-op, where you will be introduced to important community resources to make your short film come alive. This course is co-sponsored with the Film and Video Society-Alberta (FAVA).
