Substantive and Structural Editing
Explore the first level of the hands-on editing process: substantive and structural editing. Ensure your writing and the writing of others is organized effectively and that ideas are presented logically and in the best form (e.g., paragraphs, numbered lists). A variety of exercises will help you learn to recognize and correct common problems with content and structure, including errors in sequence, balance, and flow. Explore the editing process, the author-editor relationship, and the readers’ needs.
