Elements of Creative Nonfiction

Cre­ative non­fic­tion is cur­rent­ly a hot” genre. This course will cov­er the fol­low­ing forms: writ­ing about performance/​experience (review form), writ­ing about places (trav­el writ­ing), writ­ing about controversy/​current events (Op-Ed), writ­ing about peo­ple (biog­ra­phy), and writ­ing about the self (auto­bi­og­ra­phy and memoir).Your own projects and project ideas will be dis­cussed. We will look at writ­ing as a process — from gen­er­at­ing ideas to pol­ish­ing your words. Pub­li­ca­tion mar­kets, writ­ing groups, plans for revi­sion, will also be discussed.
