Remaking the World Through Creative Nonfiction
Creative nonfiction attends to the real by using literary and storytelling effects that tune your ear to language and voice while drawing on a documentary approach. Through short talks, dialogue, in-class writing, and readings, we will explore this wide-ranging essay that can include: the personal essay, reportage or eyewitness accounts, portraits and biographies, memoir and autobiographies, social and family histories, the journal and diaries, the lyric or segmented essay, cultural analysis and reviews, travel and exploration accounts, nature and environmental writing, science writing, photo or image/text essay, opinion essays, investigative writing, and literary journalism.
