Improve your basic Amer­i­can Sign Lan­guage skills in this course designed for those who com­plet­ed the ASL 1 course. Car­ry on con­ver­sa­tions in ASL on every­day top­ics such as fam­i­ly, activ­i­ties, and inter­ests. Fur­ther devel­op your ASL recep­tive and expres­sive skills, and learn how to use sto­ry­telling in ASL. This class will be entire­ly con­duct­ed in ASL.

Rouzbeh Ghahreman was born Deaf in Iran, where he completed a master’s degree in History. Before immigrating to Canada, he was involved in the publication of a dictionary of Farsi Sign Language and with the first Encyclopedia of the Deaf in Iran. Once in Canada, he completed a master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Deaf Education at the U of A. For the past decade, Rouzbeh has been teaching in different educational institutions, delivering courses in Deaf education, American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf culture, and ESL to Deaf newcomers. Rouzbeh always reminds his students that members of the Deaf community do not consider themselves disabled, but rather as a part of a unique linguistic group with a distinct culture.
