Writing What You Know: Techniques in Creative Nonfiction

Writ­ing cre­ative non­fic­tion begins with an inten­sive explo­ration of peo­ple, places and events we already know but often ignore. Join us for an excit­ing and inter­ac­tive work­shop, explor­ing our lives through writ­ing and read­ing, tech­niques and cri­tiques. Jour­nal­ing, mem­oir, food and trav­el writ­ing will be included.

Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.

Your Instructor

Jennifer Delisle

Jennifer Bowering Delisle (she/her) is the author of The Bosun Chair (NeWest 2017), a hybrid of family memoir and poetry, and The Newfoundland Diaspora (Wilfrid Laurier UP 2012), a study of the literature of Newfoundland out-migration. Her poetry and prose have been published in magazines and anthologies across North America. Jennifer has a Ph.D. in English from the University of British Columbia and has taught at UBC, the University of Alberta, and Douglas College. She recently joined the board of NeWest Press.

Syn­chro­nous online learning, eClass

In synchronous online courses, students move through the course material at the same pace as their peers. These courses also provide learners with pre-scheduled online lectures that have the instructor and students interacting at the same time.
