Language Readiness

This course in Eng­lish for Aca­d­e­m­ic Pur­pos­es (EAP) focus­es on gen­er­al and spe­cial­ized Eng­lish lan­guage devel­op­ment and gram­mar. The course will stress the need for clear and accu­rate use of lan­guage with the goal of build­ing con­fi­dence and flu­en­cy in an aca­d­e­m­ic set­ting. There will be a focus on lan­guage and con­tent-based speak­ing, lis­ten­ing, read­ing and writ­ing tasks, employ­ing col­lab­o­ra­tive com­mu­ni­ca­tion strate­gies, and pro­mot­ing autonomous learn­ing strate­gies. EXELP 7155 pro­motes aca­d­e­m­ic accul­tur­a­tion while intro­duc­ing stu­dents to con­cepts of aca­d­e­m­ic integri­ty and basic citation.
