Abstract Painting: Mid-20th Century to Present

Explore the inno­va­tions in abstrac­tion that occurred in the sec­ond half of the 20th cen­tu­ry to the present as we focus on abstract art pro­duced by women and peo­ple of colour. Exam­ine how social move­ments, chang­ing philoso­phies, and advance­ments in tech­nol­o­gy have influ­enced abstract art. Gain a deep­er under­stand­ing of how and why con­tem­po­rary artists make abstract works. Exper­i­ment with oth­er artists’ process­es and dis­cuss how to effec­tive­ly use colour, line, and tex­ture to enhance rhythm and mood
