Special Topics in Art

Learn how to use a palette knife as a paint­ing tool to achieve expres­sive mark-mak­ing with heavy paint appli­ca­tion. Explore the method of impas­to to apply lay­ers of paint and cre­ate paint­ings with thick, tex­tured sur­face and vis­i­ble strokes. Through a series of guid­ed projects, you’ll be intro­duced to var­i­ous palette knife tech­niques as you pro­duce stud­ies from obser­va­tion and copy a few paint­ings to learn from one of the old mas­ters. Depend­ing on your pref­er­ence, we will work to cre­ate land­scape, flo­ral, or semi-abstract paint­ings. Open to artists of all levels.
