Portrait Drawing

In this course stu­dents will learn var­i­ous tech­niques of devel­op­ing por­trait draw­ing based on direct obser­va­tion of the mod­el. The stu­dents will devel­op an under­stand­ing of how to trans­late three dimen­sion­al shapes onto the two dimen­sion­al sur­face based on pro­por­tions and the anatom­i­cal aspects of the human head. The prin­ci­pals of well estab­lished com­po­si­tion, val­ue, use of neg­a­tive space and fore­short­en­ing will also be explored. Com­ple­tion of EXART 3005 is strong­ly recommended.
