The Cita­tion in Applied Geo­sta­tis­tics fits an impor­tant niche between the con­ven­tion­al one-week short course and the 2‑year master’s degree pro­gram. It is ide­al­ly suit­ed to those from indus­try who seek a more in depth under­stand­ing of mod­ern geo­sta­tis­ti­cal tools. Restrict­ed to Applied Geo­sta­tis­tics pro­gram students.

  • Course Dates: May 21-September 27, 2024; Class Dates: May 21-24, June 17-20, July 15-18 and August 12-15, 2024 | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. This course crosses over three terms, and students will be registered into the Summer/Fall sections of classes (July/August/September) after registering into the course. 
  • This 170-hour course constitutes the entirety of the Citation Program in Applied Geostatistics (CPAG) and provides learners with knowledge and skills that will allow them to better quantify resources and reserves.
  • Aimed at geoscientists, as well as mining and petroleum engineers.
  • Participants are required to hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree (bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, or related field). Official transcripts or approved alternative proof of admission requirements compliance must be received prior to course registration.
What you will learn

Building on your experience and prior education, this course will help you to:

  • Understand the place of geostatistical models of heterogeneity and uncertainty in modern resource/reserve evaluation.
  • Explore and apply simulation/uncertainty management concepts.
  • Acquire knowledge in topics such as geologic rock types and stochastic modeling, trends and non-stationarity, variograms for spatial continuity modeling, kriging for optimal estimation of resources, and multivariate modeling.
  • Learn about important geostatistical concepts and tools.
  • Apply specialized knowledge and skills for enhanced job performance and career advancement.

The time required for exercises could exceed this amount if customized to a project. A total of 16 comprehensive assignments will be distributed.
