Fundamentals of Disability Management
EXOS 4601 is offered this winter:
The need to control costs arising from occupational injury or disease has taken a greater priority in today’s financial reality. Human rights issues, individual rights, employer responsibilities and other contemporary issues further complicate these concerns. This course is designed to help students understand the relationship of these complex issues and develop a basic strategy for managing disability claims.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Outline the benefits and costs of an integrated disability management program.
- Identify federal and provincial legislation pertaining to disability management, including the duty to accommodate.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of a collaborative approach.
- Apply the return-to-work process to individual case studies.
- Identify the interrelationship of accident prevention and disability management.
