Developing a Sketchbook: Visual Thinking
The sketchbook is perhaps the most all-encompassing tool established across the disciplines of art, craft, and design. By noting an event, an idea, or a diagram in a sketchbook, the artist saves that memory to work with when back in the studio. Students will discover a variety of ideas and methods of sketchbook practice, along with the practical application of methods and materials. This includes choosing suitable supports and mediums, and gathering and recording information. The course provides instruction, suggestions, and information on the use of a variety of different media and on the addition of photographs, found objects, and mixed media within sketchbooks.
